We’re Prestken Legal, a Queensland based law firm specialising in commercial mortgage law for lenders. Our name combines two Middle English words: “prest” (lending) and “ken” (knowledge), literally meaning “lending knowledge.”
We believe good legal work should be straightforward. Our experience means we identify issues early, preventing unnecessary delays and costs. We use efficient, connected systems, so we can focus on the strategic work that protects your interests. You’ll work directly with experienced lawyers who know your name, understand your business, and are genuinely interested in your success.
We work exclusively with non-bank lenders because we understand your priorities and can structure transactions to protect your interests effectively.
We started this practice to provide something different: a close lawyer relationship without the corporate bureaucracy. With extensive experience in mortgage law, we recognised that commercial lenders needed lawyers who truly understand both the legal intricacies and the commercial reality of lending. We’ve handled everything from straightforward commercial advances to complex syndicated lending arrangements and construction funding, always with the same focus: protecting our clients’ interests whilst keeping good deals moving forward.

Erin brings a unique perspective to commercial mortgage law, shaped by her diverse background in linguistics and education. With a language-focused Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland (2009) and a Juris Doctor from the University of Sydney (2015), she’s fluent in French and spent years as an English-language teacher before transitioning to law.
This teaching background shows in her approach. She is able to cut through the jargon to explain complex legal concepts in ways that actually make sense to clients. Since her admission as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2016, Erin has developed her expertise in mortgage law, including syndicated lending, construction funding, and mortgage funds.
Erin genuinely enjoys working on matters with complex scenarios, intricate loan structures, and major development projects (the more challenging, the better). When she’s not crafting airtight mortgage documents, you’ll find her enjoying a chardonnay with her French husband, keeping up with their cheeky son, dominating at trivia nights, or getting absorbed in detective mystery shows.
As we grow, we’ll add team members carefully, ensuring they share our commitment to clear communication and quality work. Every person who joins Prestken Legal understands that our clients expect personal service and straight answers.
Contact us to discuss your next transaction. We’re here to make the legal process support your business goals, not complicate them.
